Cruise under sail - it is an incomparable adventure. Montenegro - small, fascinating and beautiful country. The eastern part of it is covered in mountains while the central part is full of plains that go down to the Adriatic Sea in the west.

Here you can find an incredible nature: the water and air are seen – through and clean. There are about 2800 types of plants, the majority of which are included in The Red List of Threatened Species. Moreover, it is the homeland for more than 2500 flamingos.

The country is quite famous for winemaking. Also, there are multiple antique architectural monuments of different Eras - some ancient temples and monasteries are situated in the mountains. Besides, there is the deepest European canyon - Tara River Canyon, marvelous lakes such as Black Lake (glacier lake), Visitor Lake (mountain lake) and Skadar Lake (karst lake) - the largest lake on Balkans, and much more.

The neighboring countries to Montenegro are Croatia, Greece, and Italy which are located on the Mediterranean Coast. With a valid visa, it’s easy and convenient to reach those countries under sail.

Weather in Montenegro

In Montenegro, a year is mostly comprised of sunny days (more than 250).

The country has three main climate zones: Mountain, Continental, and Coastal. Adriatic Coast enjoys the Mediterranean climate: dry summers with the average air temperature to be +73.4-+77°F (+23-+25°C).

Visa

Citizens of the Russian Federation are not obliged to have a visa, just a valid passport is enough in order to visit Montenegro and stay in the country up to 90 days.

Getting to Montenegro

During peak season, direct flights from Moscow to Tivat Airport are managed by PJSC Aeroflot, Pobeda, S7, Montenegro Airlines. Also, occasionally, connecting or charter flights could be chosen for the journey as well.

Yachting in Montenegro

For some yachtsman and tourists, several factors facilitate the choice of vacating under sail in Montenegro:

  1. The coastline is about 300 kilometers long, however, 70 kilometers out of it are beaches. Besides, there are 14 islands situated near the coast.
  2. The Bay of Kotor is the unique winding bay located in the northwest of the Adriatic coast which is famous for the lack of huge waves and strong winds. Consequently, waves exceeding half a meter is a rare phenomenon for the summer season. Fortunately, seasickness is unlikely to happen.
  3. Well – developed yacht infrastructure. There are plenty of comfortable marinas in Tivat, Kotor, Bar, Prčanj, Zelenika, and Ulcinj. On top of that, there are multiple specifically designed berths in some coastal cities since it is impossible to enjoy the view for a long time or refill the water/fuel supplies without mooring your vessel. In addition, the major seaside resorts are positioned nearby the city Budva.
  4. The possibility anchoring the yacht not only in the harbor: there will be crystal clear waters and breathtaking views.
